The Hensel barracks in Villach is one of the largest construction projects in the region: a state-of-the-art large barracks for around 1,100 soldiers of the Austrian Armed Forces. The client is the Republic of Austria. The former Hensel, Rohr and Lutschounig barracks will be combined in Obere Fellach in the future. This will create a central, efficient and modern military base that meets the requirements of the future and concentrates the forces of the Austrian Armed Forces in Villach in one place.
In the period from April 2025 to probably mid-2029, the Kostmann team, together with a consortium partner, will construct several new buildings on a total area of around 88,000 m². The construction volume amounts to EUR 195 million, while the total cost of the project is EUR 370 million. This will not only modernize the infrastructure of the Austrian Armed Forces, but also make a sustainable contribution to strengthening the Villach location.
