Construction began in August 2025, marking the start of one of the largest rail infrastructure projects in the Ebenfurth region. By the time the project is completed in September 2027, approximately eight kilometers of track will have been extensively modernized, including new cable routes and drainage systems. About 4 kilometers have already been successfully completed.
Another key focus is on making the Pottendorf-Landegg transit station more accessible and attractive, as well as the construction of two new bridges over the Oberwerkskanal, one of which has already been completed. The lowering of Track 1 via an underpass approximately 1.6 kilometers long is also proceeding according to plan, with about 700 meters already completed.
